Posted on June 14 2018

Our beard goods are crafted from all-natural ingredients, with scent compositions inspired by the seasons and built upon the tenets of natural perfumery. In this series, we shine the spotlight on the ingredients that make Dragonsea beard oils, balms and waxes so intoxicating.

Botanical Name: Hippophae rhamnoides

Origin: China

Process: CO2 Extraction

Plant Part: Fruit

Note: Middle

Aroma: Very subtle aroma, mildly sweet, tart and earthy

Hailing from Europe and northern Asia, Sea Buckthorn is a potent little red-orange berry that grows on spiny shrubs.

When we say potent, we mean both in the vitamins and nutrients they bring to our formulas, and their staining power when in their pure oil form. There have been incidents around here.

Sea Buckthorn is the highest vegetal source of Vitamin C, Vitamin E, unsaturated fatty acids and essential amino acids, along with beta-carotene, which gives them that beautiful color, and brings out the fiery highlights in red hair.

Due to its wonderful after sun properties and high nutrient count, Sea Buckthorn is a popular addition to formulas for face, body and hair. In fact, the name Hippophae means ‘shiny horse’, and refers to the good coats developed by horses feeding off the plant.

Despite this, please do not ingest our beard oil. You rub it on your outside.
